Lange Steege

The house, built in 1724/28 in half-timbered style by the wine-growing family J. Hauser, is, together with the wine press, one of the most beautiful examples of the 18th century. Above a mighty wine cellar, the double sandstone staircase leads to the beautiful front door, which is equipped with a door knocker. The entrance is on the south-eastern, richly structured eaves side. Painted and decorated shutters together with the red half-timbering (bars) create a colorful picture. The west side is made of ashlars; sernifit speckles are embedded in the joints. The living room is a small miracle of baroque coziness. It has a coffered ceiling and a wonderful blue-painted tiled stove. It is dated and signed: 1777 by Matthias Neeracher from Stäfa.
